BRIT Awards 2019: Guitar Music Back on Top!

The BRIT Awards 2019 saw some of the brightest winners, with an especial appraisal for indie music this year with Tom Walker taking the Best British Breakthrough Artist Award, and Sam Fender taking this year’s Critics’ Choice Award – an impressive feat for an artist who’s debut album is yet to be released! George Ezra also returned to the stage taking home an award for his epic sophomore album ‘Staying at Tamara’s’ whilst The 1975 took home two awards as well as a performance after their epic run of sold out o2 Arena shows last month.

The night also celebrated in good tradition a wealth of the globe’s best pop stars, with Little Mix performing a pink-tastic set of Woman Like Me, before taking home the Best British Video award for the same song – their first time winning the award.

The Best Producer award was also telecast for the first time as a global name took the award for the first time, as Calvin Harris was celebrated for his work with the likes of Sam Smith (Promises) and Dua Lipa (One Kiss – which also took home Best British Single) – both of which he also performed on stage with the two pop stars. The Award ceremony also had a new spin to it, adding in an element of musical theatre with The Greatest Showman cast, including Hugh Jackman at the front, opening the show. This was nicely complimented by Pink’s ever-theatrical montage of her top biggest hits at the end after accepting the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award.
