Stella Donnelly | Live at Leeds Top 12

Stella Donnelly is a solo singer who’s taken the UK’s heart. Not phased by the long distance relationship her home of Australia has with the UK, she’s become one of the most anticipated festival performers this summer over here and is regularly championed by the likes of Radio 1.

Live at Leeds was no different, where she performed an evening slot in Leeds’ most popular venue Brudenell Social Club’s main room for DIY. Impressively, she is always able to encapsulate the audience in a way where there is undivided attention on her in a silent room – a challenge that is often difficult for emerging artists to conquer.

Her entire set was feel-good and heart-warming, the music intertwined with cute anecdotes and amusing jokes, proving herself to be quite the charmer.

She closed the set on her new hit ‘Boys Will Be Boys,’ which was preceded by a solid speech on gender quality, her bold fearlessness to say what she truly believed being a trait of Donnelly’s that the audience clearly admired.

You walked out of the room feeling good about yourself and positive about the world. Stella’s outlook on life is so important for artists today to foster, and not enough do it. She showed us it is possible to be warm and have faith without undermining the issues that exist, finding the perfect balance in everything she does.
