20 YEARS OF BUILDING A GLOBAL ARTIST COMMUNITY
“A destination for inspiration”  - Terry Guy, Secret Walls Founder

Secret Walls is a live arts entertainment company originally from London, England, and is now headquarted from Los Angeles. They are most well-known for their live art battles, where they have street artists paint a mural from scratch in 90 minutes only, using black markers only. The winner is decided at the end, determined by the decibel level of the crowd. The battles have toured across 100 cities amongst 50 countries, expanding as far wide as Jakarta, Tokyo, Shanghai, Glasgow, Hamburg - and the list goes on.

Reflecting on the past, present, and future of Secret Walls, Terry explains: “Everything ladders back to ‘Support Your Local Artist.’ That’s why we see this as a clubhouse. It’s not just graffiti artists, but it’s also illustrators, poets, digital artists. We want everyone to come and feel inspired and welcome. That’s how we’ve expanded and evolved as a brand and platform, and hopefully over the next ten years, we continue to widen that funnel to include as many people as possible.”

Whilst the space is working on executing a long term vision to become a space where artists and creatives can work on their craft 24/7, public events held at the Secret Walls HQ campus include signature paint battles, the weekly Artist Breakfast Club, educational workshops, and more, open to all.

Punk Bunny Coffee is Green Days’ coffee brand, distributed exclusively by 7-Eleven.

Secret Walls were invited to contribute to the launch of Punk Bunny Coffee, tasked with beautifying the interior and exterior of physical space with hand painted murals, as well as engaging visual artists from their local community. The artists painted and decorated banny mascots of the brand with their own flair. On the collaboration, Secret Walls stated:

“Secret Walls has always been about giving artists the space to express themselves - whether that’s on a wall, a stage, or, in this case, a bunny figure. We teamed up with Punk Bunny to pass the mic to our community, inviting artists to reimagine the figure through their own vision and voice. When artists lead the creative process, the result is art that makes a statement.”

The Secret Walls team who further supported the execution of the collaboration include creative content manager Jaime, and long time battle host Nick Major, along with founder Terry Guy spearheading the project.

Secret Walls artists who featured their work at the event incude include Matt Gondek, Goopmassta, Mel Depaz, and Pref, to name a few.
Having a major group like Green Day seek collaborations with visual artists is a strong marker for the direction brands and artists are moving in, with a shift towards visual integration and collaborative models more than ever before.
