Dan Caplen was the headliner for this Ones to Watch show, and this is probably one of the last times for an opportunity to see him is well on his way to becoming the next pop star to dominate. He boasts a number of collaboration to his name, including latest release ‘Closer To You’ with Sinéad Harnett. He touches on the electronic trend that is rippling through pop music today, but is still able to differentiate himself with his soulful vocals adding a different dimension to the songs.

Far Caspian are a band native to Leeds, with an exceptionally vibrant set on anticipation of their debut EP to be released just days after their Ones to Watch performance. The band have been performing together for less than a year, but still deliver slick rhythms and melodies as if they’ve been honing these songs for years. Check out their debut EP ‘Between Days’ this week and familiarise yourself, as they’re certain to gather a huge audience at their hometown Live at Leeds show.

Another Sky are one of the hottest tipped bands of today’s emerging artist scene, selling out a headline at London’s Electrowerkz just days before this show. Dark lighting making the stage look almost pitch black, the band successfully create an all around sonic and aesthetic that reflects their dark, intense, emotive music. The lead singer demonstrated a vast vocal range and control that allowed her to hold huge notes, making it impossible for anyone in the room to take their eyes off of her. Combining experimental, hypnotic electronic influences with a traditional guitar music set up, Another Sky have new creativity to offer.

Blakey took to the stage solo, with just his vocals and him playing the keys to encapsulate the whole room. It was a great opportunity to see the raw songwriter form of Blakey’s otherwise electronic heavy tunes on his releases. ‘Love Galore,’ ‘Future Skies’ and ‘Prism of Love’ are the titles of the handful of songs he has yet put out, but Blakey has already created a huge following from just these, showing himself to be a promising act on the Live at Leeds line up!
