Jamie Cullum | Glastonbury 2017
Jamie Cullum brought the jazz to Glastonbury, performing with the BBC’s iconic Big Band to accompany him.
His set was largely covers, although with the new and individual spins he puts on each song, it always feels like you’re watching his own songs. His most popular and well-known cover is of Rihanna’s ‘Please Don’t Stop The Music,’ in which he creates his signature rhythm on the piano wood whilst playing the keys.
Cullum also performed a cover of Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You, maybe to recognise Sheeran’s headline on the same Pyramid Stage later that day.
He closed with an original, ‘When I Get Famous,’ introducing the song as the one he wrote as a teen in frustration of not finding success with girls. Always nice to get a bit of personal insight to the musician after hearing covers!
The addition of the Big Band behind him was special, hearing the best players in the country play everything from brass to drums. Check out Jamie and the Big Band here:
