Hot 8 Brass Band | Glastonbury 2017
Glastonbury is overflowing with every big name in music from all over the world, performing in one field over just 3 days. But you do find the occasional secret gem hiding on the line-up, and Hot 8 Brass Band were definitely that quirky break we all needed for Glasto.
They’re pretty much exactly what they say they are… A brass band comprised of 8 people, and, they’re hot, and we’re so lucky to have come across them on their Glasto stop for their UK tour. They were one of the first acts to play Glastonbury, taking the stage at midday on Friday, and even then filling out the entire field to the other side.
A fusion of hip-hop, funk, and jazz, the band play instrumentals or lightly vocaled covers of famous funky songs, from artists such as Snoop Dogg to the likes of Marvin Gaye.
The frontman of Hot 8 Brass Band had such a special ability to reach the crowd on the other end of the field, and even if you couldn’t perfectly see the huge brass set up on stage, the vibe of the crowd rippling from the stage to the back was enough to keep you involved.
A generally good time and bonus opportunity to sing along to creative covers of your favourite songs, definitely go check these guys out!
