REVIEW: Island, Headline UK Tour
Island head out on their biggest tour yet, headlining cities all over UK and Europe to promote their new release ‘A Place Like You,’ and ahead of their debut album release.
Anyone can see Island’s live performance is above the rest, having already sold out Heaven earlier in the year and are now on their way to selling out KOKO in London before they’ve even had a full length release, but their relentless performing for the last couple of years has culminated in this tour – many sold out.
Lead singer Rollo Doherty’s husky voice is as entrancing live as it in on the records, giving the band a sound that you never want to stop hearing. The spontaneity of their performance is admirable, all done through what vibes the best for them in the moment, and the chemistry between the four members always evident as they perform to one another on stage too.
‘Waves’ is my personal favourite of theirs, the guitar having a bright melody of its own separate from the vocals yet all fitting together, perfectly showing the focus on songwriting the boys gave in this new EP. Older songs ‘Stargazer’ and ‘Girl’ which are fans’ favourites were also played for us.
Check out 'Waves' from new EP below, and watch out for the launch of our Concentus Music Magazine featuring an exclusive interview with Island!
