REVIEW: Lauv | New York City
Lauv performed a sold out show at New York City’s Webster Hall as part of his US tour, and he really blew me away! Stumbling across him by accident, the rest of the audience in this 400 capacity venue were dedicated supportive fans, singing a long, and it felt really cool to be part of such a vibe whilst listening to such fresh music.
Lauv’s music is commercial pop/R&B, using a live band yet also a slight electronic edge to it. His debut EP ‘Lost In The Light’ was just released last year. From this, his song ‘The Other’ was by far my favourite, and of course this is the song that is his latest single. It’s got a taste of really old-school pop but at the same time very contemporary because of it’s combination with the production. Lauv is more than just great vocals and instrumentation, but also the production is a prominent part of his music too, even when performing live.
Not to mention, Lauv also showed off his multi-insturmentalist skills on stage, proving even further what a genuine musician he is, playing on the guitar, keys, and of course, singing so brilliantly.
Lauv is currently touring the US so I would go check him out, each show rapidly selling out one after the other. UK followers, let’s hope he’s over there soon!
