REVIEW: Frances | Omeara

Frances had a sold out show at London’s brand new venue Omeara – the one started by Mumford’s Ben Lovett, just a couple of weeks prior to her gig! So sold out, the venue was literally overflowing – everyone couldn’t fit!

She’s a singer songwriter yet one who fits in to the pop commercial scene, always making for an interesting combo of music.

Frances just released a few singles off her upcoming debut album ‘Things I’ve Never Said’ with Capitol Records. The fact she’s had a number of sold out shows in London even without an album out yet says a lot for the quality of artists she is and her musicianship.

You’re not a true romantic singer songwriter until you have a marriage proposal in the audience though, which is exactly what happened at this show - and actually ON STAGE! Although I'll admit I couldn't see most of the concert because it was so jam packed, but the fact I enjoyed it regardless, just hearing her music, in itself shows how great her music is.

My favourite song of the night, and of course her most popular that the whole crowd knew, had to be ‘Say It Again,’ and live it was a lot slower and sweeter than the recording.

She was on stage with just her piano and her voice and an acoustic guitar accompanying her, so it was almost like an acoustic set, which was also great to see her in a small setting where this set up works, before she returns to the venues with thousands of audience in the future where she’ll likely be with a full band!

I’m excited to hear her album in March next year; Go check her out on her 2017 tour in support of it, when she’ll also be playing London’s o2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire!
