REVIEW: Maximillian | 'Hollow Days' New Single

Maximillian is Europe’s latest export to the music industry, and introduced himself to London with a night at Hoxton Square’s Bar and Kitchen venue. This new artist hailing from Denmark is riding the new wave of electronic-pop music that finds itself popular in today’s emerging artist scene. However, Maximillian ensures he doesn’t get lost in the crowd of new electronic music, but allows himself to stand apart. Between the emotion fuelled lyrics and the top-level production that form his artistic identity, he has proven himself to be one to watch.

Though first and foremost a solo artist, his live set sees a band accompanying him. The production and instrumentation form a vital part of his sonic identity, but his voice is still the instrument carrying the sound forward.

This is demonstrated perfectly in his latest track  ‘Hollow Days,’ which he ended the night on. This song in particular lets Maximillian showcase the emotive side of his musicality, as the song is driven by lyrics and characterised with a funky rhythm behind him, inviting comparisons to the likes of London Grammar.

Maximillian brought a personable touch to the night, involving the audience in all aspects of the night (including his newly bleached hair) creating a sense of community around him.

It was a great introduction to Maximillian for London. His debut EP is set to release after this summer, so make sure to catch him at the start of his long journey ahead! Check out ‘Hollow Days’ here:
