BBC Music Introducing - Sorry, Alaskalaska, Grand Pax | The Lexington

BBC Introducing return this summer to the Lexington for their monthly showcase of new music. This month saw a slightly more alternative line up, away from the usual indie-rock that is showcased, with Sorry, Alaskalaska, Sorry, Grand Pax.

Grand Pax may sound like a band but in fact is solo performer Annie Pax, with a stage name as regal as her performance. Her online presence is kept to a minimal, yet despite her enigmatic presence, she has gathered a huge amount of interest and performed a vibrant live set to the BBC audience, with a band behind her too completing the electronica vibe she aims to deliver.

Alaskalaska followed as the night’s middle act, and presented what was an almost opposite style. A huge 6 piece fusion band with instruments from synths to saxophone to create the sound, Alaskalaska produce a highly innovative sound not common amongst the indie venue circuit today. The sax player was the definite highlight of the set, featuring loads of solos and catchy top lines really showcasing the potential of the band’s musicality.

Sorry headlined the night. The band fall more in to the classic indie rock set up than the rest of the line up did, but still successfully deliver an interesting set. Their collection of songs showcased versatility and their experimental nature is evident, yet they are still solid in what they deliver.

BBC Music Introducing returns every first Thursday of the month to the Lexington as well as hitting all the festivals this summer!
